InfraTrac is a woman-owned technology company located in the suburbs of Washington, DC. The company was founded to commercialize in-dose spectroscopic tagging and authentication for anti-counterfeiting. The original work targeted pharmaceuticals. The company later expanded into additive manufacturing (AM), where a 3D printer can make a “manufacturer” out of anyone and where surface markings are insufficient protection due to 3D scanner replications. This version has gained traction, initially in the first AM adopter, aerospace, and has been called “the most promising…technique” (3dprint.com). To date, Lockheed Martin has awarded two contracts and a competitive award to InfraTrac for spectroscopic quality and authentication in AM. InfraTrac's latest innovations center on the potential that 3D printed nano-scale containers have to improve controlled release of liquid and powder payloads across a wide range of industrial, manufacturing, and medical applications.
InfraTrac was founded with venture backing from TEDCO. The company has received Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding in excess of $1,000,000 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST).
